Commissions > Operation Torch: Operation Torch 2008 was the largest exercise of its type in Europe, it was a multi-agency, multi-national, mass fatality simulation exercise.
Second Skin were commissioned to produce a few items including a head, hands, arms and feet. The brief was that they must simulate blast type injuries. They also had to be able to be CT scanned and MRI scanned if necessary.
All parts produced contained real human bones including the head which had a full skull inside. (these human remains had been donated to medical research and full approval was obtained before I was given the job) Hands and fingers had to reproduce finger and hand prints for complete authenticity of the parts. |
All parts were gel filled to further enhance realism. Plat gel 10 was the material of choice as these parts will be used time and time again for training purposes. |
